UPRIVER PROJECT was born out of a conversation with a social entrepreneur Billy Thrall. He drew a river on the a white board and said that he was tried of only helping people down river after a crisis had occurred. He wants to be more preventive in his thinking.

Bold. That was the idea I wanted to communicate in the typography. UPRIVER is about being bold in the face of hard problems.
Messy. Social issues are messy to work on because they involve people and their problems. The icon of the messy lines is a symbol of how one may come into feeling when first getting involved with a social problem.
